Have you ever listened to someone tell a story, and the way they did it was so
captivating? You couldn’t stop listening and you were so excited to see how it would
end? Maybe even at the end of it you questioned the legitimacy of it, but all in all it was a good moment of entrancement.
Now this is just one example of the way someone might be telling a story, but have you ever considered sharing something about your personal life to someone with every last detail attached to it? A skill, that’s what I would call good story telling. Something that requires effort, practice and follow through. Yes, they are just words of a situation. But imagine if it were your situation, and you crafted it up in a poetic way to make some sort of an impact in someone else’s life. What could possibly
come out of this moment you may ask?
Not only could you be helping this person with a new or similar perspective on
their life, but you could also be healing yourself too. Too many times we keep our
past bottled up because of feelings like guilt, shame, and embarrassment tied to it.
Our past does not have to define us, but it can shape the way we handle future
situations and sometimes it’s okay to go the extra mile and share your story. We do
all have them by the way.
